If you are a minority student (Asians donít count) youíre in luck, except in CA due to the passing of prop 209. There are many opportunites at your fingertips: scholarships, special loans and lower admission standards. EVERY school is looking for diversity (hispanic and african americans) which is something most dental schools lack. I know that at UOP, african americans are far and few between. In the class of 2000, there were 2 and in my class there was 1 that ended up dropping early. Diversity is needed and hopefully will rise with the increasing minority population. Two schools that I know of that accept large numbers of african americans are Meharry and Howard University. Your communities need you!
